Sweet Story, Sweeter Kid

A writing teacher told me recently, "if the author isn't moved by what's going on in the story, the reader won't be either."

The story behind the jersey story (now in three languages: English, Spanish and French), was a small act of kindness from one young boy to another. The fact that I love this kid should come as no surprise. Also not surprising: I cry EVERY time I read and reread this story - in any language.

Matías, thanks kid. You continually remind me of the importance of being human and humane.

Translating a book from the original Spanish to English was not as natural as I thought it might be, but the bones of the story remain unchanged. I've let my bias be known, of course, but maybe you'll think this a good story to share with your own children (pick a language!).
